Fort Worth, TX - The Lady Vikings held off a late rally by visiting TCA Tuesday night to win 42-40 in non-district action. TCA, who had beaten the Lady Vikings earlier this season, could not overcome a big deficit built by the Lady Vikings early in the first half.
Led by the play of junior guard Odessa Ozuna, the Vikings raced out to a 28-14 halftime lead. The lead turned out to be just big enough for the home Vikings.
Freshman Suli Davis continued her late season improvement with another double-double, pulling down 17 rebounds to go along with 13 points. Ozuna contributed to her steady junior campaign scoring 17 points to lead the way.
“It would be nice to finish the game better and build on the lead we had in the first half for sure,” head coach Josh Blok said. “I feel comfortable with a lead and Sam and Odessa in our back court, but when Sam went out it changed some things for us. I am proud of the girls for finding a way to finish the game.”
The Lady Vikings will now travel to Midland this Friday night for a game against Midland Christian. The game will tip off at 6 pm.
