NCHS Spring Sports Season Review

Baseball: The varsity team finished the year strong with a 2-1 win over Antonian Prep in the TAPPS Area Final and 4th in TAPPS District I. Key players like Nick Chiappetta, who led the team with a batting average of .356, and Sebastian Aguirre, who recorded an ERA of 2.944, and JR Reed with an ERA of 3.308, were instrumental this season. The Vikings fell to Houston St. Pius X in the TAPPS Regional Final.

The baseball team also signed Nick Chiappetta (Belmont College), JR Reed (Missouri Valley College), Gabe Jackson (Kansas Wesleyan University), and Noah Lara (University of Valley Forge) to play at the next level.

Softball: The Lady Vikings would represent the five seed from district I in the TAPPS playoffs. They fell to Concordia Lutheran in the TAPPS Area Final after a game broken up by rain delays. The team was led in batting this season by seniors Emily Johnston (.493) and Sophia Shuff (.459). Both will also be continuing their careers at Benedictine College and Hendrix College, respectively.

Tennis: In a year that had a slow start for our Viking tennis teams, they finished it strong by qualifying both the men's doubles (James Le and Chip Martin) and men's singles player, Andrew Merkle, for the TAPPS State Championships.
