Fort Worth, TX - It could be said the Vikings swim program is peeking at the right time. As several boys and girls have been working over the past months, times have begun to drop and several athletes are posting personal bests. This past weekend was no different as swimmers continue to improve heading to the state meet.
Led by a dominant performance in the 200M freestyle relay, the Vikings boys swim team came home victorious in their pre-regional swim meet.
Individually for the boys, Ethan Alfrod has stepped to the front and is posting his best times to date. In the 200M freestyle, placed second overall, dropping seven seconds off his previous best time. His strong performance in the 200 carried over to the 100M freestyle as well, where he also placed second.
Anthony Nguyen and Bao-Tran Nguyen also posted personal best in the 200M freestyle and 100M freestyle respectively. Both swimmers dropped significant seconds in their races.
On the girls side, Cora Heidemann continues her terrific season to date. Heidemann won the 200M IM and also placed second in the 100M backstroke.
Team wise on the girls side, the Lady Vikings won both the 200M and 400M freestyle relays.
“I am very proud of our program as we continue to see our times drop leading up the state meet. This is a testament to our kids and their willingness to put the time and effort into being successful. We are looking forward to finishing the season on a very high note,” head coach Lauren Black stated.
