Vikings win district championship

Fort Worth, TX - After opening the district portion of their season with a loss to Prestonwood Christian Academy, the thought of winning a district championship came second to seeing continued improvement. However after winning their fifth match in a row after beating Liberty Christian 3-0, the Vikings are now district champions.

“I am proud of the boys, winning a district championship is never easy and something they should celebrate,” head coach Sean Eddington said.

The senior class led by captain Matthew Martinez and Johnny Gonzalez have continued to improve daily in practice and now the results are showing.

“We had a tough stretch to open the season as we made adjustments in personnel and got some guys back in the rotation. The boys have continued to work and now we have the postseason in front of us,” Eddington said.

The Vikings will turn their attention to the TAPPS Division I playoffs. The Vikings first opponent will be El Paso Cathedral. Cathedral has beaten the Vikings five matches in a row in the opening round of the playoffs.

Details will be announced at a later time for the opening playoff match.
